They were born in the Odù Ika Fun: sixteen elders walked to Ilé-Ifẹ̀ to ask for long life, and Orunmila warned them that only the one who kept these words would be given it.

What is an Odù of Ifá?
An Odù is each one of the 256 signs (also called letters) of the Ifá oracle. Each Odù is written with two columns of single and double marks —a millennia-old binary language— and holds prayers, patakis, ebbós, ires, osogbos and taboos that the babalawo interprets in the consultation. How many signs or letters does Ifá have?
Ifá has 256 Odù: 16 Meyi (also spelled Meji — the major signs) and 240 combined. Each Meyi heads a family of 16 signs. Here you will find all 256, in the Lukumí tradition. See the index of the 256 →
What will I find in each Odù?

How is the Casa de Santo different from The Notebook?
The Notebook is for one person: your account and your access. The Casa de Santo —the padrino’s house— is for the padrino or madrina who teaches: one monthly payment brings in you and up to 5 godchildren, and each godchild has their own account, with their own personal Odù and their own favorites — no shared password. The padrino invites with a code and removes whoever is no longer in the house. The content is the same as The Notebook, with no ads.
