Ika Fun closes the Ika family with the mirror: during Holy Week the mirrors of the house are covered, and nobody looks at themselves in a stained mirror — yours has stains: clean it or take it down. Its great deed is a matter of sacred hairdressing: the women let their hair down for seven days — and that is how Ikú was unmasked, the fleshless queen who covered herself with the hair of maidens.

1When Obatalá did the ceremony wrong

Obatalá had to consecrate Obatalá for an omo, and he invited nobody to the ceremony: he did it alone. After washing it, he went to be read by Orunmila, who saw this Ifá for him and said: «The washing of this osha is not correct: you have to wash it again and invite other oshas and the people you know, so they can be with you, help you consecrate it, eat and enjoy themselves.» So Obatalá did, and that was when everything was right.

Obatalá had to make Obatalá for an omo, and he invited nobody to the ceremony, since he did it alone. And after he washed it, he went to be read by Orunmila, who saw this Ifá for him and said: «The washing of this osha is not correct: you have to wash it again and invite other oshas and the people you know, so they can be with you, help you consecrate it, eat and enjoy themselves.»

So Obatalá did, and that was when everything was right.

2Where the women let their hair down

When Orunmila began having trouble in the land of Deidan, which was a land of witchcraft, he made osode, saw this Ifá, and set out for the mountains of Oke Fun with his children to see Olofin, the least qualified of them dropping out along the way. He came to a village and went to the market just as it was closing: only the women were still selling. He bought a rooster from them and the leftovers they had, and told them to let their hair down, gathering up the hairs that fell. The ebbó was made with the rooster, the leftovers and the hair of those women; he gave the rooster to the sixteen Meyi on the hill — and when he reached the top of Oke Fun he was able to see Olofin and have good fortune.

When Oshún saw that her hair had been stolen, she went to Orunmila, who saw this Ifá for her: «Your own sister stole your hair.» She could not get it back and was left on bad terms with her sister. Then Orunmila (Ika Fun) took pity on Oshún: with ewe oguede, ewe fin, ewe fa, rosemary, ero, obí kolá, obí motiwao, indigo, yellow cloth and the hair she had left, he made her a bun on her head and gave her two quail — and that is how Oshún was able to have hair again.
