An Ifá of investigation, of spiritism and of magic: you have a special skill in your fingers and hands and you make your living from them — you can be a magician, an illusionist, a craftsman. The Ifá of the two faces: you are with God and with the Devil — on the day the eguns of light, the Oshas and Olofin influence him, the Awó divines; on the day the obsessing eguns and Abita influence him, he divines nothing for anyone. An Ifá of ungrateful people: the woman sacrifices for her man and he is not grateful; the aleyo is not grateful to the Awó for what he settles. An Ifá of being spiritually a twin: you have one egun who pushes you toward doing good and another who pushes you toward doing evil — one of those eguns is identical to you, though of the opposite color: attend to them with masses, food and prayers. An Ifá of great trouble in forming a family: it is about two people who cannot get what they want because they need other people's help. An Ifá of the godchild parting from the godfather through not being attended to: even though the godfather says he is very fond of him, disappointment comes.
When this Odù appears in an itá, it announces the death of a relative of the person before the year is out.

1The road where the two faces speak

Olofin promised Eshu he would send him to make Ifá if Eshu could find him when he whistled out in the bush — but he hid behind the plantain tree and Eshu could not see him. Shangó, seeing Eshu upset, stood back to back with him: «you look that way and I will look this way». When Olofin whistled, Shangó caught him: «You sly one, you are behind that tree — now you have to pay for Ifá for both of us». Here the two faces speak.

Olofin set Eshu this condition: "If you find me when I whistle to you in the bush, I will send you to Orunmila's house so he can make Ifá for you." Olofin would whistle and hide behind the banana plant, so Eshu never found him.

Eshu's annoyance kept growing and he was starting to lose control when Shangó happened to pass by; seeing him like that, he wanted to know: "What is wrong with you, that you are annoyed?" Eshu explained the matter to him, and Shangó suggested something: "Stand behind me: you look that way and I will look this way." The whistle sounded, and from his spot Shangó gave him away: "You rascal, you are behind that banana plant, and now you have to pay for Ifá for the two of us."

2The dog and the hunter

The dog lived in the bush and warned the birds when the hunter came, and the hunter could never catch them. Worn out, the hunter took the dog home and slowly tamed him — until one day the dog began barking in the bush to show the hunter where the birds were hiding. Ever since, the hunter makes a good catch, and the birds wander about in flight.

The bush was the dog's home. Every time the hunter showed up, the dog gave the word to the birds, which took flight, and so none of them fell into his hands.

Tired of coming back empty-handed, the hunter took the dog to his house and little by little tamed him. He went up to the bush sometimes alone and sometimes with the animal, until one of those times the dog started barking there to show him where the birds' hiding places were.

From then on the hunter makes a good catch and has good hunting, while the birds were left wandering, always on the run.

3The road where Orunmila decided to stay on earth

Olofin sent Orunmila to put the earth in order, with the commitment to return to heaven when he finished. Orunmila did what he was told, but he also devoted himself to a woman and had children with her. When he was called back, he asked for more time: he could not leave his children alone. He kept sending the animals from the rogations, until Olofin decided otherwise: that he should stay on earth, because that suited everyone.

Olofin sent Orunmila to earth with the task of putting it in order. Orunmila set about sending him animals of the kind used in rogations, with the idea of going back when he finished. He carried out everything Olofin had marked for him, but he also gave some of his time to a woman, and with her he came to have children.

After a while, Olofin counted up the time he had spent on earth busy with the job and ordered him to come back. Orunmila answered with a message: he would come back, because he did not intend to disobey him, but it was impossible for him to leave his children alone; he begged him, then, for more time to finish leaving everything in order. And he did not stop sending the animals, until Olofin's word was different: that he should stay on earth, because that way it was better for everyone.
