What Ifá says in this sign

Osa Yeku is the Odù of tribute to the Earth: here Olordumare shared out his kingdom and Eshu asked for — and was given — the rule of the Earth. Its arithmetic is simple: sacrifice secures long life — without it, death is certain: pay the Earth, and the Earth lengthens your days.

Its destiny points to the countryside: they are waiting to give you charge of a piece of land — you will have to live in the country or outside the city. You are a child of Orishaoko and you do not do what you should: that is why you are poor and held back — receive him, make Santo if this odu calls for it, and the farm of your destiny opens its gates.

«Eshu asked for the rule of the Earth — and Osa Yeku pays it tribute so life is made longer.»The pulse of Osa Yeku

Your spiritual debts have an inventory: a promise made for a child that was never kept — possibly to Azojuano: pay it; the necklaces you threw out — which is why your health and your pocket limp —; and the Souls, Shangó and the Ibeyis waiting. And the compulsory charm: the ebbó of this odu is never without a piece of ivory — with it you get your lost luck back and are as you were before.

Your health calls for a full pantry: in osobo, eat properly, take vitamins and even injections — your blood and your brain are weak; no sleeping right after eating and no getting worked up on a full stomach (stroke), bowels kept moving against constipation, and your legs with their egun attended to. Your enemies live alongside you and you see them in dreams: believe those warnings.

The gratitude you owe: the person with sores on their feet who has helped you so much — never abandon them; a marriage at war with iron in the middle is calmed with ebbó before the point of no return, and children left unattended will come back with reproaches: get ahead of them by being there. You have lost three strokes of luck crossing that ditch: a great one is coming along the road — and the Earth, properly paid, hands it to you

The sign in one line

Pay your old promise, find your ivory and go out to the country that is waiting for you — the Earth of Osa Yeku gives back authority for what is paid to it.

Patakíes of Osa Yeku · The roads of the Odù

1The power Osain was missing

Osain went about the world looking for the power he was missing and, worn out, went to see his great friend Orunmila, who saw this Odù for him: «To reach the power you are looking for you have to eat something you have never eaten — a frizzled rooster». «The thing is, that frightens me», Osain answered. «Take its left eye out and kill it on the ground through the mouth». So Osain ate frizzled rooster (akukó shashará) and reached the power he wanted.

Osain went about the world looking for the power he was missing. Worn out with looking for it, he decided to go and see his great friend Orunmila, who made osode for him, saw this Odù and told him: «For you to reach the power you are looking for, you have to eat something you have never eaten, which is frizzled rooster».

Osain answered him: «Well, but the thing is that frightens me, eating that». So Orunmila answered him: «Take its left eye out and kill it on the ground through the mouth».

So Osain ate frizzled rooster (akukó shashará) and reached the power he wanted.

2Where Olofin shared out everything of his

Olofin, after finishing the creation of the Earth, decided to share out everything of his, giving his powers to each Osha and Orisha. Eshu came to him on the next to last day and asked to have the rule of the Earth — and Olofin granted it.

Olofin, after finishing the creation of the Earth, decided to share out everything of his, giving his powers to each Osha and Orisha.

Eshu came to Olofin on the next to last day and asked to have the rule of the Earth, and Olofin granted it. Here Eshu's power over the Earth was born.

3When Olokun and Yemayá saved the people

In one land it had not rained for a long time and the rivers began drying up. The head of the tribe went to Orunmila's house, and he saw this Odù for them: «To come out of this disaster you have to make sacrifice to Olokun and Yemayá». The chief and his people made ebbó and sacrificed to these Saints, and a few days later it began to rain over that land.

He made osode for them, saw this Odù for them, and told them: «So you can come out of this disaster, you have to make sacrifice to Olokun and Yemayá».

So the head of the tribe and his people made ebbó, sacrificing to these Saints, and a few days later it began to rain over that land.
