1His mother saved him

A man with a heavy body was expected at a party and had no spirit to go; his mother had already sent him to Orunmila, who left ebbó marked for him with parrot feathers, a leather strap, two jio jio and his fee. He ignored what was marked and showed up anyway; the mother, who knew her son's failing, did the ebbó before he got there — and that is how he was left free of Ogún.

A certain man's body kept feeling heavy. He was expected at a party and had no spirit to go; that is why his mother had already sent him to Orunmila, who left this ebbó marked for him: parrot feathers, a leather strap (yarako), two jio jio and his fee.

He ignored what was marked and showed up at the party anyway. The mother, who knew her son's failing, went ahead and did the ebbó before he got there. That way he was left free of Ogún.

2The road of the four Awó

There were four Awó. Among them was Ayan Kolo Kolo, who was Elegba, and he never lifted a finger or helped anybody. One day the four sat down to eat yam fufú, with Ayan Kolo Kolo nearby, watching them; suddenly he saw one of them put in his hand and take fufú, and the iyalufón grabbed him by the wrist: "you did not help me when I made ebbó". Out of shame, Ayan Kolo Kolo got up and went out to the street door, saying: "there is no iyalosha or anything here". The iyalofón answered him: "yes, there is an iyalosha here and an Awó too". "Tell him I am here". From what was left on the plates they sent him a little to the door, but first they said: "ago Eshu agogoro" — that is the Elegba who lives behind the door and eats with Eshu Ayan Kolo Kolo. From that moment on he went on eating the leftovers at the door, and that is how he began to help the Awó and the iyaloshas.

This road tells of four Awó; among them, Ayan Kolo Kolo — who was Elegba — never lifted a finger for anybody. One time the four got together to eat yam fufú, and from nearby Ayan Kolo Kolo did not take his eyes off them. Suddenly he noticed one of them reaching out his hand and taking yam fufú, and he tried to grab the iyalufón, who grabbed his hand and said: "You did not help me when I made ebbó".

Out of shame, Ayan Kolo Kolo got up, went out to the street door and said: "There is no iyalosha or anything here". The iyalofón answered him: "Yes, there is an iyalosha here and an Awó too". Ayan Kolo Kolo said: "Tell him I am here". Then they sent him to the door what was left on the plates, but not before saying: "Ago Eshu agogoro" — that one is the Elegba from behind the door, the one who eats next to Eshu Ayan Kolo Kolo.

From that moment on Ayan Kolo Kolo went on eating the leftovers at the door, and that is exactly how he began to give help to the Awó and the iyaloshas.
