A solitary diver gave his life to looking for the black pearl; when he finally found it, through a careless moment it fell back into the sea, and he spent the rest of his life looking for it without ever finding it again.
On this road, there was a pearl diver who found himself alone and downcast, with fishing as the only occupation in his life.
This diver was a man who had always failed in marriage, and for that reason he gave himself entirely to the gear of his trade, and his greatest aim was to bring up a black pearl.
Every time he brought up an ordinary pearl, he threw it back into the sea. Many years passed like that, without his seeing the dream of his life come true, which was to bring up the black pearl.
One day he found the black pearl and thought himself the happiest man in the world. But on one occasion, through a careless moment of his own, the black pearl fell back into the sea.
He searched for it, but it was all in vain. After so much work, it slipped away in a moment. Because of that turn of fate, the diver was left sad and downcast.
After a time, the diver recovered from what had happened and set himself once more to work hard at getting another black pearl. But he spent his whole life looking for it, without ever finding it.
That is why this Ifá says: whoever looks for the perfect never finds it. When you find someone close to what you hoped for, look after them well so you do not lose them.
